Visiting Golfers Get a Dose of “Ambush Trivia” on “The Charlie Rymer Golf Show”

Charlie Rymer’s back at Caledonia, and this time he’s challenging a group of visiting golfers in his “Ambush Trivia” segment of “The Charlie Rymer Golf Show”! See how they do when “The Big Timer” puts their golf knowledge to the test!

Charlie Rymer:

Time now for Ambush Trivia. I’m at the spectacular Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, and there are some unsuspecting golfers out on the course right now that are about to have a chance to win a little [inaudible 00:00:16]. Hey guys, what’s up?

Speaker 2:

Hey, Charlie!

Speaker 3:

Hey!

Charlie Rymer:

Man. What a great day. Good to see y’all.

Speaker 2:

How you doing, sir?

Charlie Rymer:

Doing good, good, good.

Speaker 2:

You’re taller when you’re standing up.

Charlie Rymer:

I’m prettier too.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don’t know about that.

Charlie Rymer:

All right. I got some golf trivia for you.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Charlie Rymer:

You got to get four of these five right, and this can be a group effort.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Charlie Rymer:

All right. So these questions concern golf greats.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Charlie Rymer:

Tiger Woods is tied with which golfer for the most PGA tour victories?

Speaker 3:

Which golf, which…

Speaker 2:

I’d say Ben Hogan.

Charlie Rymer:

That’s a great guess, but is wrong. That would be Sam Snead. They’re tied at 82.

Speaker 2:

[inaudible 00:01:02].

Charlie Rymer:

How about that? Okay. What famous golfer became the youngest player to win the Masters back in 1963 and then go on to become the oldest player to win the Masters in 1986, the greatest day in golf?

Speaker 3:

Jack Nicklaus.

Speaker 2:

Jack Nicklaus.

Charlie Rymer:

You got that one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That’s an easy one.

Charlie Rymer:

You’re just going to lean on them, okay.

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Charlie Rymer:

Okay. Okay. All right. So you got to get these last three right to get your gift card. I bet you guys get this one. Who is the only non-American to achieve a grand slam? The only non-American.

Speaker 2:

Gary Player.

Charlie Rymer:

Bingo. You guys are on a roll now. You start out with a double, but you’ve come back. Birdie. Birdie. This one’s really hard.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Charlie Rymer:

Which famous golfer is nicknamed Lefty and he’s not actually a lefty?

Speaker 2:

Oh, you’re trying to throw us off with that.

Charlie Rymer:

I would never try and throw anybody off.

Speaker 4:

I’d say it was Mickelson.

Speaker 2:

It’s Phil Mickelson.

Charlie Rymer:

You got it. Boom. But you know he’s right-handed.

Speaker 2:

He is Right-handed. You’re right.

Charlie Rymer:

But he plays left handed.

Speaker 2:

Yes, he does.

Charlie Rymer:

Okay. After winning 13 major championships in a eight year span, what golf prodigy promptly quit, said, “I’ve have had enough,” at the age of 28? This is for all the marbles.

Speaker 2:

I would… I would say Bobby Jones.

Speaker 4:

That’s a good choice.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Bobby Jones.

Charlie Rymer:

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! How about that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, baby. Way to go, big Tom!

Charlie Rymer:

Let me just say this about these guys. They’re a lot smarter than they look.

Speaker 2:

You ain’t lying.
