Strantz Spotlight: #17 at True Blue

Mike Strantz is known for his wild, constantly moving fairways, and at True Blue Golf Club we’re lucky enough to have many wide fairways that give every golfer a great chance at finding them off the tee. One of our favorite holes is the par-four 17th, which not only exemplifies this trait but is a great reminder of a hole that should not be overlooked if your mind starts to drift ahead to True Blue’s more renowned finishing hole.

When you step to this tee box, the first thing that draws your attention is the water that runs all the way up the right side of this fairway. Aim down the left center of the fairway to avoid the water. If you’re a longer hitter you will want to favor the left side even more. The water cuts into this fairway about 150 yards from the green. With the natural sandy areas up the left and right side, the look of this hole is unmatched.

This green may look intimidating from the fairway, but it lends itself to great golf shots. There is a small knoll that guards the front edge of this putting surface. Approach shots that carry this knoll will feed onto the green, and if you want to get aggressive to a pin tucked on the right side, throw your ball past the pin and let the slope of the green do the work. If you’re attacking a back pin placement, be sure to avoid the cluster of small bunkers that sits just short of the cart path.

Strantz gave every skill level of golfer a chance to score well when he built True Blue; No. 17 is a great reminder. Take on all this course has to offer when you book your next round here!
